Real Water Conditioning Work in Germantown Homes

Frank L. needed a new water softener and iron filter installed. We installed both units, ran a new 1-inch drain line 60 feet overhead to the sump pump, and ran a new half-inch line between the iron filter and softener to the kitchen sink connection. Iron-treated water was also piped to the kitchen and west hose bib before we wrapped up.
Mary Anne C. needed a new iron filter and water softener installed along with a kitchen faucet replacement. We installed both water conditioning units with new 1-inch connections and drain, ran the connections between the iron filter and softener for the kitchen faucet, and replaced her client-supplied kitchen faucet while we were there. Everything was tested and confirmed working before we left.
Jeff and Tania R. had an older two-tank iron removal system with a bleach additive unit that needed to be replaced. We swapped it out for a new single-tank 13-inch iron filter, installed a new 1-inch drain running 7 feet to the floor drain, and added a boiler drain ahead of the system for future pipe flushing. Everything was tested and confirmed working before we left.

I had a great experience with Austin Plumbing. Easily scheduled an appointment online. Got a text they were on their way with a nice little bio about who was coming. Jay showed up on time, was friendly and did a great job explaining options, and providing estimates. Work was done quickly, high quality with great care to keep my house clean. New hot water heater and new water softener done! Thanks Austin Plumbing and Jay!

Luke was very knowledgeable and polite. He explained everything so we understood and asked us if we had any questions before he left. Looking forward to having a new water softener that works properly.

Common Questions Germantown Homeowners Have About Water Conditioning

Who installs water softeners and iron filters in Germantown?
This is home turf for the problem: Washington County water is some of the hardest and most iron-heavy around, and Austin’s treated it from the Appleton Avenue shop since 1939. Rather than selling a box off the shelf, they test your actual water and size treatment to it. Real tradesperson, upfront pricing, non-commissioned advice, warrantied work.
How do I know if I need water treatment in Germantown?
Around here the signs are hard to miss: orange or rust staining in sinks, tubs, and toilets, a rotten-egg sulfur smell, scale on every fixture, dingy laundry, spotty dishes, and dry skin after showers. Germantown’s water makes these especially common. A water test tells you exactly what you’re dealing with before you spend a dime.
Does Austin test the water first?
Always — the recommendation comes off an actual water sample, not a sales script. That matters a lot in Germantown, where iron and hardness levels vary well to well; the test is what gets you the right iron filter or softener, correctly sized, instead of overbuying or under-treating.
What does a softener or iron filter cost in Germantown?
Priced upfront and approved by you before install. With non-commissioned techs and no salespeople, you only get recommended what the water test actually calls for — no upsell to a bigger system than your water warrants.
Is hard water or iron really that bad in Germantown?
Yes — Germantown and Washington County are genuinely known for it, especially on wells. High iron leaves the orange staining and that sulfur “rotten egg” smell; hardness leaves the scale that shortens the life of water heaters, dishwashers, and fixtures. Austin sees the worst of it constantly here, so the system they set up is truly dialed to your water — and they’re honest about exactly what you need.
