Why Oconomowoc Homeowners Have Called Austin Since 1939

Austin Plumbing, Heating, Air & Electric has been serving Oconomowoc and the surrounding Lake Country communities since 1939. From lakefront properties to newer neighborhoods, we’ve worked in just about every type of home in this area — and multi-generational Oconomowoc families have been calling Austin across decades because they know exactly what they’re going to get.

We don’t employ salespeople — not one. Everyone at Austin is a tradesperson, trained in-house to do the work right and treat the homeowner with respect. Our techs are non-commissioned. They get paid the same whether they recommend a quick fix or a full replacement. That’s not a policy we adopted — it’s the culture this company was built on, and it goes back to the beginning.

What Oconomowoc homeowners say about us: great communication, friendly and knowledgeable techs, fast service, and a company that clearly cares. Every one of our 3,000+ five-star reviews was earned on a real job — never paid for, never traded for a discount. Real people. Real experiences. That’s the only kind of review worth trusting.

Electric Water Heater Replacement with Capacity Upgrade in Oconomowoc

Bernice B. called in after losing hot water and needed a reliable long-term solution for the home. Furnace Replacement & Drain Updates in Oconomowoc

AC Tune-Up & Refrigerant Leak Repair in Oconomowoc

Randall H. scheduled an annual AC tune-up after noticing the system wasn’t performing as expected. Great service all around!! From calling in to get an estimate, to discussing the estimate details, to actually scheduling the service, to the tech arriving and giving a final cost and then executing the work. Very quick and easy!

Common Questions Oconomowoc Homeowners Ask Austin

Is Austin going to upsell me?
No. Austin employs tradespeople, not salespeople, and every technician is non-commissioned — paid the same for a minor repair or a full replacement. Around Oconomowoc, Austin works everything from older lake-area homes to brand-new builds, so the honest repair-or-replace answer truly varies house to house. You’ll get the real options and the freedom to choose, because empowering clients is one of Austin’s core values — and no one in the company benefits from overselling you.
Do people around Oconomowoc trust Austin?
Yes. With 3,000+ genuine five-star reviews across Southeast Wisconsin — none paid for or incentivized — Austin has a record that’s hard to argue with. Many come from Oconomowoc families, including multi-generational clients who’ve called across decades precisely because they know exactly what they’re going to get every time.
Who’s the person Austin sends to my house?
An in-house Austin tradesperson — trained “the Austin Way,” never a sub or a salesperson. From lakefront properties to newer neighborhoods, Austin’s people have worked just about every kind of home around Oconomowoc, so the tech at your door knows what they’re looking at, explains it clearly, minds their manners, and leaves your home the way they found it.
Is Austin family-run or owned by investors?
Family-run. Austin is owned by Eric Smith — Owner, President, third-generation master tradesman — carrying on what his grandfather Austin Smith founded in 1939. The founder’s name lives on through Eric’s son Austin, the fourth generation and the face of Austin’s TV commercials. The company still runs on the founder’s words, “Be Good,” and investors who come knocking are always turned down — it isn’t for sale at any price.
What happens if something isn’t right afterward?
Austin’s commitment is simple: if our work breaks, we’ll fix it for free. If the workmanship fails, Austin makes it right at no charge — that’s a published core value, not a slogan. And because Austin is rooted right here in Lake Country, you’re never left chasing a company that’s disappeared.
Can Austin handle whatever my home throws at it?
Almost certainly. Oconomowoc homes range from older lake cottages to newer construction, and Austin has worked them all since 1939 — plumbing, water heaters, heating, cooling, wells and pumps, water conditioning, electrical, and generators, all in-house and to code. When an issue touches more than one system, one company sorts it out instead of three.
