Plumbing Repairs We Handle Every Day

Most plumbing calls start with something simple: it keeps dripping, won’t stop running, started leaking, lost pressure or just quit working. Tell us what it’s doing. There’s a good chance we’ve seen it before.

Toilet Repair & Replacement

“My toilet keeps running.” “It fills back up by itself.” “It’s leaking around the bottom.” “The handle quit working.” “It rocks when you sit on it.”

These are some of the most common plumbing calls we take. We repair flappers, fill valves, flush valves, handles, supply connections, seals and toilet flanges. We also pull and reset toilets and replace toilets when that is the work the fixture needs.

Faucet, Sink & Shower Valve Repair

A kitchen faucet that drips all night. A bathroom faucet that won’t shut off. A loose handle. A sprayer leaking under the sink. A shower that won’t get hot, won’t get cold or won’t turn off. A tub spout that stopped sending water to the shower.

We repair cartridges, seals, sprayers, faucet components, shower and tub valves, and the plumbing connections serving them. We also install replacement faucets and fixtures when needed.

Garbage Disposal Repair & Replacement

If the disposal hums but won’t spin, keeps tripping the reset, is jammed, leaks underneath the sink or suddenly stopped working, call us.

We unjam and service disposals when the problem can be corrected, repair leaking connections around them, and install replacement garbage disposals when the unit itself has failed.

Leak Detection & Leak Repair

Sometimes you can see exactly where the water is coming from. Sometimes all you have is a wet cabinet, a spot on the ceiling, damp drywall or a water meter that keeps moving when everything in the house is turned off.

We find plumbing leaks and repair leaking valves, fittings, supply lines, fixture connections and piping. The first job is figuring out where the water is actually coming from. Then we fix the plumbing that is causing it.

Hose Bib & Spigot Repair

The outdoor spigot won’t shut off. The hose bib drips constantly. It worked before winter and now it leaks. Water shows up inside the house only when you turn the outside faucet on.

We repair and replace hose bibs, spigots, exterior faucets and frost-free faucets, along with the accessible shutoff or piping when that is part of the problem.

Plumbing Fixture Installation & Replacement

Bought a new faucet, toilet, sink or garbage disposal and want a plumber to install it? Replacing an old fixture during a bathroom or kitchen update? We do that too.

We install Austin-supplied and customer-supplied plumbing fixtures when they are compatible with the home. We can also handle the shutoffs, supply connections, drains and other plumbing needed to install the fixture correctly.

Water Pressure Problems

If one faucet barely flows, one shower suddenly lost pressure or the hot and cold sides behave differently, the problem may be right at the fixture.

Aerators, cartridges, fixture stops and valves are common places for fixture-specific pressure problems to show up. We can determine whether the problem is at the fixture or farther upstream.

If the whole house has low pressure and you are on a private well, the problem may belong to the well pump or pressure system instead.

Residential Gas Line Repair & Installation

Need a gas line moved or extended? Adding or replacing a gas appliance? Have a damaged valve, connection or section of residential gas piping? Our plumbers handle residential gas-line repair, installation and appliance connections.

If you smell gas or suspect an active gas leak, leave the area, avoid flames, switches or anything that could create a spark, and contact your gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. A normal website booking should not be the first step for a suspected active gas leak.

Plumbing Problem Getting Worse?

If water is actively leaking, a fixture won’t shut off, or the problem is starting to damage the home, don’t wait for it to become a bigger repair.

How Much Do Plumbing Repairs Cost?

There is no useful single price for “plumbing repair.” A running toilet, leaking faucet, jammed disposal and hidden leak are four different jobs. What we can give you is something better than a made-up minimum: the actual shape of completed Austin plumbing calls.

Across hundreds of qualifying completed fixture-service calls, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $285, half finished at or below about $470, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $760.

The lower end is real. So are the larger jobs. What moves the number is what failed, the parts involved, access, whether the fixture can be serviced in place and whether the job stays a repair or becomes a replacement.

Toilet Repair Cost

Across completed toilet-focused fixture calls, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $270, half finished at or below about $440, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $700.

A running toilet may only need a flapper, fill valve, adjustment or another tank component. Pulling and resetting a toilet, repairing a flange, correcting the connection below it or installing a replacement toilet is a different scope.

Faucet Repair Cost

Across completed faucet-focused calls, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $250, half finished at or below about $400, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $650.

A loose connection, aerator, sprayer or serviceable cartridge can stay toward the smaller end. Specialty cartridges, difficult access, unavailable parts, replacement fixtures or additional plumbing move the number.

Tub & Shower Valve Repair Cost

For completed single-service shower-cartridge repair calls with a clean comparable scope, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $435, half finished at or below about $525, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $610.

A cartridge repair is different from replacing a complete valve body inside the wall. Trim, valve type, parts availability and access can all change the work.

Garbage Disposal Repair & Replacement Cost

Across completed garbage-disposal calls, about 1 in 5 finished at or below $300, half finished at or below about $620, and about 3 in 4 finished at or below $725.

That lower group includes service calls where the disposal could be reset, unjammed or corrected without replacing the unit. Complete replacement is a different job, especially when the sink flange, drain piping or electrical connection also needs work.

Hose Bib & Spigot Repair Cost

Across completed exterior-faucet calls, about 1 in 5 finished at or below $300, half finished at or below about $540, and about 3 in 4 finished at or below $640.

That matters because not every leaking spigot needs a complete frost-free faucet replacement.

Minor service and accessible repairs live toward the lower end. Freeze damage, complete frost-free replacement, difficult interior access, a failed shutoff or additional damaged piping move the price higher.

Leak Repair Cost

Across hundreds of qualifying plumbing-leak calls, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $280, half finished at or below about $485, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $660.

A leaking fitting under an open sink is different from water appearing through a finished ceiling with no obvious source. What is leaking and how difficult it is to reach are two of the biggest cost drivers.

Customer-Supplied Faucet & Fixture Installation Cost

For completed single customer-supplied faucet installations, about 1 in 4 finished at or below $385, half finished at or below about $460, and 3 in 4 finished at or below about $745.

The faucet itself may already be paid for, but the existing plumbing still matters. Old shutoffs, supply lines, drain connections, difficult mounting or a fixture that does not fit the existing setup can add work.

Other customer-supplied fixtures, including toilets and more involved installations, may have a different cost profile.

How Does That Compare With Other Plumbing Repair Pricing?

For comparable basic faucet, toilet and plumbing-leak repairs, Austin’s completed-job history falls within normal published market pricing for similar work.

The important word is comparable.

A small faucet repair should be compared with another small faucet repair. A completed Austin invoice that includes a new fixture, additional piping, a difficult-access valve or several failed components should not be compared with an advertised price for one cartridge or washer.

That is also why some of the middle and upper outcomes in our completed-job history are higher than the narrow repair ranges you may see online: they represent more work.

We market-check the historical pricing we publish, but we do not move our actual history up or down to make it fit a preferred number.

What Does It Cost to Have a Plumber Come Out?

Our standard plumbing dispatch fee is $99. If you move forward with the work, the dispatch fee is waived. Club Austin members also have the dispatch fee waived under the current program.

Once we are there, the sequence is simple:

Problem → Diagnosis → Choice → Price

We determine what is actually wrong, explain the reasonable path forward and give you the price before authorized work begins.

Upfront & Fair Plumbing Repair Pricing Since 1939

You may not know the exact price before a plumber sees the problem. You should be able to trust how the number is reached.

Our tradespeople are paid to solve the plumbing problem, not to make the ticket bigger.

We diagnose first, separate small repairs from larger scopes, explain real choices when they exist and give you the price before you authorize the work.

Repair It, or Replace It?

A failed part does not automatically mean a failed fixture.

Some components inside toilets, faucets and shower valves are designed to wear out. A flapper, fill valve, seal or cartridge is a little like brake pads on a car: replacing a normal wear part can be a very sensible investment when the rest of the fixture is still in good shape.

A Good Fixture Is Usually Worth Repairing

If the fixture is in good condition, the failed component is serviceable and the home’s water quality has not been unusually hard on it, replacing a normal wear part is often a safe investment.

As a practical rule, a fixture under about six years old with an isolated wear-item failure is usually a strong repair candidate.

Age alone does not decide it. Condition does.

Past Six Years, It’s Worth Comparing Both Paths

A fixture over about six years old does not automatically need replacement. It does mean we should look at the whole picture.

Repeated repairs, hard-water damage, corrosion, obsolete parts, a worn fixture body, poor performance or several aging components can make putting more money into the old fixture less attractive.

That is when upgrading deserves a real comparison.

When repair and replacement both make sense, we’ll show you both paths and tell you what we would do if it were our own home. The person giving that recommendation is paid the same either way.

There’s a Whole Company Behind the Plumber at Your Door

A good plumbing repair depends on more than the person holding the wrench. Training, standards, inventory, technical support and the company standing behind the work all show up in the service you receive.

1

A Recommendation You Can Trust
Our plumbers are paid the same whether the right answer is a small repair or a replacement. That keeps the conversation focused on what makes sense for your plumbing, not the size of the sale.

2

Repair Quality Has a Written Standard
The Austin way defines how we expect work to be completed for workmanship, safety, durability, serviceability and finish quality. Good work should not depend on one plumber’s personal preference.

3

Training Does Not Stop After Hiring
We train every week, and Austin U gives us an in-house way to keep developing tradespeople. The homeowner gets a plumber backed by a company that keeps sharpening the trade.

4

The Plumber Is Not Working Alone
Two local warehouses, stocked inventory, dispatch and technical support sit behind the person in your home. That gives our plumbers more ways to keep everyday repair work moving.

5

The Trade Is Understood at the Top
Austin is owned and operated by a master tradesman. Decisions about training, products, standards and field operations are made by people who understand what the work actually takes.

6

Built to Be Here Later
We are privately owned and building Austin for perpetuity. The company standing behind today’s repair intends to be the company you can call years from now. Since 1939.

Getting a Plumbing Problem Fixed Should Be Easy

A good service call starts long before the truck pulls into the driveway. We build the company around making it easier to book, easier to diagnose and easier to finish the work correctly.

Step 1 ➡

Booking Is Easy

Call us or book online 24/7. Tell us what the plumbing is doing in your own words — leaking, dripping, running, humming, losing pressure, whatever you are seeing.

You do not need the technical name for the failed part. Our team gets the process started and gets the call to the right people.

Step 2 ➡

Your Plumber Arrives With a Warehouse on Wheels

Our service trucks carry common plumbing parts, repair materials and selected replacement fixtures so the plumber can do more than diagnose the problem.

Behind that warehouse on wheels are two local Austin warehouses with additional inventory and support.

The goal is simple: finish more normal plumbing repairs in one visit when the job allows it.

Step 3 ➡

We Find What’s Actually Wrong

The symptom tells us where to start. The diagnosis tells us what to fix.

We inspect the fixture and surrounding plumbing, test what needs to be tested and identify the actual failure before recommending the work.

Step 4 ➡

You Get the Options and the Price

If there is one sensible repair, we explain it. If repair and replacement both deserve consideration, we show you the tradeoffs and give you our recommendation.

You see the price before you authorize the work.

Step 5 ➡

We Fix It and Leave It Right

We complete the plumbing repair, test the fixture or piping, make sure the work is operating the way it should and clean up the area before we leave.

Fast is useful. Rushed is not.

Plumbing Fixture Brands We Work On

We have seen and worked on just about everything over the years, so don’t worry if your brand is not on this list.

These are simply some of the plumbing fixture brands we run across most often in Southeastern Wisconsin homes. Whether a particular fixture can be repaired still depends on its condition and whether the needed parts are available.

Faucets, Sinks & Shower Valves

We repair common cartridges, sprayers, trim, handles and valve components and can replace the fixture when needed.

Brands we’ve worked on: Moen, Delta, Kohler, Pfister, Grohe

Toilets

We service common toilet tank components, seals, connections and mounting problems and install replacement toilets when needed.

Brands we’ve worked on: Kohler, American Standard, Toto, Mansfield

Garbage Disposals

We service jammed and malfunctioning disposals where practical and replace failed units when the disposal itself needs to be changed.

Brands we’ve worked on: InSinkErator, Moen, Waste King

If you do not see your brand, call us anyway. A brand list should not be the thing that keeps you from getting the plumbing problem looked at.

Answering Your Questions About Plumbing Repairs

Why does my toilet keep running or refilling?

A toilet that keeps running or refilling is usually losing water inside the tank or failing to shut the fill cycle off correctly.

Common causes include a worn flapper, fill valve, flush-valve component, chain problem or incorrect water level. These are normal service parts, and a running toilet does not automatically mean the toilet needs to be replaced.

We inspect the toilet and repair the component that actually failed when the rest of the fixture is in good condition.

Is a running toilet worth repairing?

Usually, yes — especially when the toilet is in good condition and the problem is a normal wear component such as a flapper or fill valve.

For a toilet under about six years old, an isolated wear-item repair is generally a safe investment when the fixture itself is sound. As the toilet gets older, repeated repairs, water quality, flange condition, performance and the cost of the repair become more important in deciding whether replacement is the better use of the money.

Can a dripping faucet or shower valve usually be repaired?

Yes, many dripping faucets and shower valves can be repaired when the fixture body is sound and the correct service parts are still available.

Cartridges, seals, sprayers and other internal components wear out. Older specialty fixtures become harder to justify when parts are obsolete, several components are worn or the fixture itself is deteriorating.

We inspect what you have before deciding that replacement is necessary.

Who fixes a garbage disposal that hums or is jammed?

A plumber can service a garbage disposal that hums, jams, trips the reset, leaks or stops running.

Some garbage disposals only need to be reset or unjammed. Others have a seized motor, leaking body or another internal failure that requires replacement.

Austin handles both garbage-disposal repair and replacement, so we can determine which problem you actually have.

Can you install a faucet, toilet, garbage disposal or fixture I already bought?

Yes. We install customer-supplied plumbing fixtures when the product is compatible with the existing plumbing and appropriate for the application.

We check the fixture and what it has to connect to before installing it. If an old shutoff, supply line, drain connection or other plumbing also needs attention, we explain that before the work moves forward.

Why is the water pressure low at just one faucet or shower?

Low pressure at one faucet or shower often points to a fixture-side restriction rather than a whole-house pressure problem.

An aerator, cartridge, fixture stop or valve can reduce flow at one location while the rest of the house works normally.

If the whole house has low pressure — especially on a private well — the problem may instead involve the well pump, pressure switch or pressure tank.

Can you find a plumbing leak if I can’t see where it starts?

Yes. We handle both obvious plumbing leaks and leaks where the source is not immediately visible.

A ceiling stain, wet cabinet, damp wall or unexplained water use can give us a place to start. We trace the plumbing involved, identify the leaking component or connection and explain what needs to be repaired.

Can a leaking outdoor faucet, hose bib or spigot be repaired?

Yes, many hose bib and spigot problems can be repaired. The right fix depends on what failed and whether freeze damage affected the faucet or piping behind it.

We repair and replace exterior faucets and frost-free hose bibs, including accessible shutoffs or connected piping when they are part of the leak.

If an outdoor faucet leaks inside the house only when you turn it on, stop using it until it can be inspected. That can be a sign of freeze damage behind the wall.

Do plumbers repair and install residential gas lines?

Yes. Austin plumbers handle residential gas-line repair and installation, including appliance connections, valves and gas-piping modifications.

If you smell gas or suspect an active gas leak, leave the area and contact your gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. Do not wait for a normal plumbing appointment.

Can most plumbing repairs be finished in one visit?

Many everyday plumbing repairs can be completed in one visit, but no plumber can responsibly promise that before seeing the problem.

Austin stocks service trucks with common plumbing parts and selected replacement fixtures, and those trucks are backed by two local warehouses. That gives our plumbers a better chance of carrying a normal toilet, faucet, disposal, valve or leak repair through without automatically scheduling another trip.
