How to Tell If Your Water Heater Needs Repair

No hot water at all. Cold water flowing from the hot side of the faucet is a clear sign your water heater needs attention right away.

Shower water is lukewarm. If you can’t get the water past warm no matter how high you turn the handle, something is off with the water heater.

Water is scalding hot. When thermostats, control valves, or elements fail, they can cause the system to overheat. Suddenly very hot water is a warning sign — not just a comfort issue.

Water leaking from the tank. Any leak from the tank body or its components means you need a repair call scheduled as soon as possible.

Rumbling or banging from the tank. Strange noises usually mean sediment has built up inside the tank. Left alone, this leads to bigger problems and a shorter lifespan.

Dripping or running relief valve. That tube running down the side of your water heater is the T&P relief valve. If water is dripping or flowing out of it, that’s a repair issue that shouldn’t be ignored.

Power Vent Water Heater Repair

Power vent water heaters — also known as direct vent water heaters — are common in newer construction throughout our area. They vent through the sidewall using PVC piping and are more efficient than standard gas units, but their added electrical components make them more prone to requiring repairs and harder to diagnose without the right training. Common power vent repairs we handle:

  • Error code diagnosis and clearing
  • Vent motor repair or replacement
  • Pressure switch repair
  • Ignitor repair and replacement
  • Flame sensor and vapor sensor lockout repair
  • Relief valve repair and replacement
  • Anode rod replacement

Our technicians are fully qualified and equipped to troubleshoot and repair power vent water heaters accurately.

Electric Water Heater Repair

Even though natural gas is common in our market, many homes run on electric water heaters — and we repair those every day too. Common electric water heater repairs we complete:

  • Heating element replacement
  • Upper and lower thermostat replacement
  • Reset button failure diagnosis
  • Heating element testing and evaluation

From diagnosing why your electric water heater is running out of hot water too quickly to replacing elements and adjusting thermostats, our team is trained to repair electric water heaters right the first time.
